Hatadage is an ancient relic shrine located in the historic city of Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka. It was constructed during the reign of King Nissanka Malla and once functioned to house the sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha. While only parts of its stone and brick walls remain today, its remaining structure evokes the grandeur of its original form.

The shrine is thought to have been a two-storey building, though the upper level has collapsed over time. Within its inner chamber are three granite Buddha statues—one larger central statue flanked by two smaller ones. The base walls are embellished with lotus and lion motifs, and the entrance features decorative carvings and a moonstone design.

Visitors to Hatadage can walk through its southern main entrance, inspect the intricately carved stone embellishments, and view the central chamber where the Buddha statues stand. Though mostly ruined, the site retains a sacred and contemplative ambience. Its location within the Polonnaruwa Archaeological Park allows it to be part of a historical circuit of monuments in the ancient city.

Hatadage is accessible year-round, with the most favorable times being during dry weather when visibility and walking conditions are better. It lies within the broader Polonnaruwa ruins complex, which is well served by roads and signage. Visitors should plan for daylight visits to fully appreciate its details and avoid low light or inclement conditions.
