What to Expect

Bogoda Bridge is a 45 minute drive from the resort. It is the only roofed 16th century Kandyan bridge left in Sri Lanka. Near the bridge is a 1st century Buddhist temple.

It was constructed entirely of wood with massive tree trunks for buttresses. Amazingly, no nails were used in the construction.

Next stop is Demodara Nine Arch Bridge – a beautiful and amazing bridge built between two railway stations - Ella and Demodara - during the British colonial period.

Last stop is Demodara Railway Loop – designed and built during the British colonial period in the shape of a turban – a unique feature in the hill country. The rail track goes around the mountain in a loop and then trough a tunnel beneath the Demodara Railway Station. Great fun.
