Put on your walking shoes and trek through the Ritigala Nature Reserve which is indeed a hidden gem that is waiting to be explored. A mountain located within the boundaries of the cultural triangle, is home to an ancient Buddhist Monastery while its ruins and rock inscriptions date back to 1 century BCE. Along with this, diverse flora and fauna and a serene atmosphere, Ritigala consists of four peaks and is a strict nature reserve covering over 3000 acres. The ruins of Ritigala cover an area of over 50 acres itself and are considered as the main archaeological area. The area has been well conserved while one of its most attractive features comprises the promenades made of stone slabs through the dense jungles. There are a few caves here as well.

You can avoid delays and long ticket queues by purchasing an entrance ticket to Ritigala through Lakpura. Our booking reference will allow you to obtain an entry ticket to the site while a physical ticket is always required when entering. It is advised that you book your ticket in advance to avoid delays. Also, please note that this entrance ticket does not allow you to enjoy any additional services such as an English speaking guide which will have to be booked separately.
